Donate by clicking the button below (donation process administered by PayPal) The New England Grassroots Environment Fund (NEGEF) is a unique funder/activist collaborative that provides seed grants for voices at the local level that traditional philanthropy does not reach. NEGEF is about volunteerism, community activism and environmental advocacy. By supporting hands-on work at the local level, NEGEF helps people discover they can stop pollution, save a large tract of open space or build communities with strong civic engagement; following the premise that town governance is the best classroom in which to teach the basics of civics and democracy. Throughout 11 years, the New England Grassroots Environment Fund has received over 2,200 applications and supported 1206 grants across the region, bringing together individuals. students, businesses, schools and community groups interested in a wide range of environmental issues including: agriculture, air quality, alternative energy, aquifer protection, biotechnology, community gardens, environmental justice, energy conservation, forestry, global warming, marine environment, public health, sprawl, sustainable behavior, toxics and hazardous waste, trails, water quality, watershed management, wetlands, wildlife and youth-organized Environmental work.
