NEGEF's Advisory Committee

NEGEF is a collaborative program governed by a Board of grassroots activists and foundation representatives. By design, the activists out-number the funders by one. Each New England state is represented by one activist. Funders are selected from the foundations supporting the program.

The Fiscal Year 2000 Advisory Committee members assumed their seats in June. They are the following :

Grassroots Activists: Stephen Miller (Maine); Blair Folts (New Hampshire); Ginny Callan (Vermont); Daniel Ross (Massachusetts); Arthur Handy (Rhode Island) and Bob Loring (At-large).

Foundation Representatives: Ted Smith/Gale Munson (Henry P. Kendall Foundation); Julie Early (Island Foundation); Rich Davison (Sudbury Foundation); and Elizabeth Perriello Rice (Prince Charitable Trusts).

There was significant change on the Board this year. Our many, many thanks to two members who helped create the Fund -- to Ruth Hennig of the John Merck Fund and Ann Fowler Wallace from the Cox Charitable Trust. Both Ruth and Ann have served as Chairs and we will miss their presence.

Two grassroots members also stepped down. We greatly appreciate the insight and guidance brought to the Board by Penn Loh, a staff member at Alternatives for Community and the Environment (ACE) in Boston, and Tom Earle, owner/operator of an organic community-supported agricultural project on his farm in North Conway, New Hampshire.
